How to Add an Opportunity

2 min read

Opportunities help you track quotes, applications, pending enrollments, and potential policies before they become active policy records.

Use opportunities when coverage is still being discussed, quoted, submitted, or waiting for approval.

Add an opportunity from a client profile #

  1. Open Agent Book CRM.
  2. Go to Clients.
  3. Open the client profile.
  4. Find the Opportunities section.
  5. Select Add Opportunity.
  6. Choose the coverage type.
  7. Enter the opportunity details.
  8. Save the opportunity.

Add an opportunity from a lead profile #

You can also add opportunities before someone becomes a client.

  1. Go to Leads.
  2. Open the lead profile.
  3. Find the Opportunities section.
  4. Select Add Opportunity.
  5. Enter the opportunity details.
  6. Save the opportunity.

Common opportunity fields #

Opportunity details can include:

  • Status
  • Carrier
  • Plan name
  • Plan ID
  • Policy number
  • Enrollment code
  • Premium
  • Application date
  • Effective date
  • Due date
  • Enrollment period
  • Next step
  • Coverage type
  • Plan type, when applicable

When to use an opportunity #

Use an opportunity when you are tracking something that may become a policy later.

Examples include:

  • A quote you are reviewing with a client
  • A submitted application waiting for approval
  • A Medicare enrollment before the policy is active
  • A life insurance application in underwriting
  • A pending dental or health plan

Next step and due date #

Use the Next Step field to track what needs to happen next.

Examples:

  • Follow Up
  • Quote
  • Submit Application
  • Waiting on Documents
  • Review
  • Other

Use the Due Date field when there is a deadline or follow-up date.

Convert an approved opportunity to a policy #

When an opportunity is approved, Agent Book CRM can convert it into a policy.

To convert an opportunity:

  1. Open the opportunity.
  2. Change the status to Approved.
  3. Save the opportunity.
  4. When prompted, choose Convert to Approved Policy.

The new policy will copy important information from the opportunity, including plan details, dates, policy number, enrollment code, premium, carrier, and coverage type.

Lead conversion #

If the opportunity belongs to a lead, converting the approved opportunity can also move the lead into the client workflow.

This helps keep the client record, policy, tasks, notes, documents, and history connected.
